Set in Tignale, a characteristic village on Lake Garda along the road to Riva, a few kilometres from Gargnano, Prà de la Fam enjoys an ideal position for a quiet holiday or an active one.
Right on the water, Prà is surrounded by nature. Behind it rises a rock face with a beautiful waterfall; in front, the view opens over the blue lake and Monte Baldo. The Parisini family has run the property directly for centuries.
Breakfast is served on the veranda, in the shade of the olive trees, and the large garden is the right place to sit in the sun. The beach is less than twenty metres away.
On the same property stands the Limonaia del Prà de la Fam: the largest and northernmost in Europe, eighty trees still in production, open to visitors from Easter to October. It is the one thing no other hotel on Lake Garda has — and the five apartments are built right there, inside the old lemon house.

03 — Ecomuseum
The Limonaia
del Prà.
The Limonaia of Prà de la Fam was restored in 1985 with the support of the Comunità Montana of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park. Its 80 mature trees now form the Ecomuseum, open to visitors from Easter to October.
The property still belongs to the Parisini family. Guided tours tell the story and the peculiarities of the lemon house, and end with a tasting of the products: salt-cured lemons, limoncino, lemon syrup and citrus-infused olive oil.
This is not a lemon house rebuilt for visitors: it is alive and productive, and its fruit becomes the salted lemons, the limoncino and the syrup you taste at the end of the tour.

The forgotten trails
Tignale lies within the Alto Garda Bresciano park, and beyond the park trails it keeps a dense web of military paths — by now forgotten by the maps — linking trenches, shelters and tunnel emplacements, casemates. Almost always at the most panoramic spots.
An artillery battery, with its trenches and protective bunkers, is spread across Monte Castello, near the sanctuary and on the northern slopes. The defensive lines, whose remains are still clearly visible, run along the Dosso Piemp — by the Rifugio degli Alpini — as far as the Passo della Puria and the edge of the municipality.
You reach them along the old military roads still up on the heights: you can drive as far as the dirt tracks allow, then carry on on foot or by mountain bike along the old approach paths.

By car
From the east
A4 motorway, Desenzano exit, then towards Salò: about 15 km. From Salò continue towards Riva del Garda on the Gardesana road, the SS 45 bis; past Gargnano, another 4 km to Porto di Tignale.
From the west
A4 motorway, Brescia Est exit, then towards Salò: about 20 km. From there as above.
From the north
Brenner motorway A22, Rovereto Sud exit, towards Riva del Garda, then the Gardesana towards Brescia for about twenty kilometres.
By train
The handy stations are Brescia and Desenzano–Sirmione, on the Milan–Venice line. Buses along the Gardesana are more frequent from Brescia, sparser from Desenzano. Get off at the Porto di Tignale stop.
Coming from the north: Rovereto station, bus to Riva del Garda and from there the line towards Gargnano.
By plane
From nearest to farthest: Brescia Montichiari, Verona Villafranca, Bergamo Orio al Serio, Milan Linate, Venice and Milan Malpensa.
All connected by train or bus to the stations of Brescia, Desenzano and Verona, from where you continue along the Gardesana.
The Gardesana is narrow and full of tunnels, but it is one of the most scenic roads in Italy: take the time to look at it.
